About
You will be dealing with Jim.
Kinetiks Consulting is small on purpose. The person who looks at your site is the person you talk to, and has been doing this since 2015.
I am Jim Clark, and I have spent the last decade helping small businesses get more out of their websites. That covers search, paid ads, content, email, and the unglamorous work of keeping a site online and updated so none of the rest goes to waste.
Most of my clients are businesses where the website matters but nobody has time to own it. They don’t want a dashboard, a strategy deck, or a monthly call about impressions. They want the thing to work, to load quickly, and to bring in enquiries, and they want a person to tell them straight when something isn’t worth doing.
That is the part I would want you to weigh. A larger agency gives you more people. This gives you one who knows your site, answers within four business hours, and has seen what happens to a WordPress install nobody has touched in two years.
Who this suits
The businesses I work with best usually look something like this:
- The website brings in real enquiries, so downtime and slow pages cost money
- Nobody internally owns it, and the person who does own it has another job
- It runs on WordPress, or it is about to
- They would rather have one person who knows the site than a team who each know part of it
If you already have an in-house marketing team and you need extra hands to run campaigns, an agency is probably the better fit. If you need a large custom build with bespoke functionality, that is a different kind of project and worth saying so early. eCommerce and custom features are quoted separately rather than folded into a care plan.
What working together looks like
It starts with a look at what you already have. Before anyone talks about a plan, I want to know what the site is doing now, what breaks, and where the enquiries come from. Quite often that conversation ends with two or three specific fixes rather than a monthly arrangement, and that is a perfectly good outcome.
If we do work together on a care plan, the rhythm is deliberately boring:
- Updates weekly, run on a staging copy first where the risk warrants it. You hear from me when an update needs a decision, not when it doesn’t.
- Backups nightly, with 30 days retained, so a bad afternoon is recoverable.
- Edits by email. Send the change you want. Included hours vary by plan, and I tell you before anything runs over rather than after.
- A report on the 1st covering what was updated, what was blocked, and what changed in your traffic. One page, not twelve.
The pricing is on the home page rather than behind a form, and it is month to month with 30 days’ notice.
How I work
- I will tell you when something isn’t worth it. Plenty of sites don’t need an SEO retainer. Some need one page fixed and a faster host.
- You keep your own accounts. Your domain, your hosting, your analytics, in your name. I get access, not ownership. If you leave, nothing has to be untangled.
- Month to month. No annual contracts on care plans. If it stops being worth it, you leave with 30 days’ notice.
- No jargon in the reporting. If a report needs a glossary, it is not doing its job.
What clients say
We’ve had a lot of SEO companies in the past, but Kinetiks is far and above the best SEO and marketing team we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with.
Scott Blumenshine, Attorney
I sincerely thank you for all the support throughout the years.

Where I work from
Kinetiks is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and the work is done remotely. That has been true since well before it was fashionable, and it means there is no geographic limit on who I can take on. Clients are spread across time zones, and the working rhythm is email and scheduled calls rather than dropping in.
If being able to meet in person matters to you, say so early. It is a reasonable thing to want, and it is better raised at the start than discovered later.

Certificates are not the reason to hire anyone, but they are a reasonable check that the fundamentals are covered.

Common questions
Am I really dealing with one person?
Yes. That is the trade being offered: less capacity than an agency, and no chance of your account being handed to whoever joined last month. Specialists get brought in when a job genuinely needs one, and you are told when that happens.
What happens if I want to leave?
You give 30 days’ notice and go. Because your domain, hosting and analytics are already in your name, there is nothing to hand back and nothing to hold hostage.
Do you only work with WordPress?
The care plans and maintenance work are built around WordPress, because that is what most small business sites run on and it is what I know deeply. Search and content work does not depend on the platform.
Tell me what your site is doing and I will tell you whether I can help, or whether you need someone else.
